The Government will be restructuring the Youth Information Centres (YICs) across the island, to have them focusing on young people in business and the fostering of creative ideas. State Minister in the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information, Hon. Floyd Green, said priority will be given to young persons who want to start profitable ventures, and the YICs will serve as hubs for such development.
Minister of Education, Youth and Information, Senator the Hon. Ruel Reid, says teachers will be provided with the tools to deal with students with special needs. In an interview with JIS News, he said the Ministry is fully aware of the challenges teachers face when dealing with these students, and they should be commended for their level of empathy and the work they have been doing.
The Government will be aiming to strengthen the National Parenting Support Commission (NPSC) as a way of getting parents more involved in the academic affairs of their children. Minister of Education, Youth and Information, Senator the Hon. Ruel Reid, made the remark at the Jamaica Teachers’ Association’s (JTA) 15th Annual Education Conference at the Jewel Runaway Bay Beach and Golf Resort in St. Ann on March 29.
